Like everything else, it’s all relative
There are automobiles on the market in virtually every price range and the same is true for limousines. With these luxury cars, though, there is a big difference between simple high rates and mind-numbing costs. It all starts with the size of the vehicle – a stretch limo will cost more than the average luxury sedan limo but when you begin to add security features and elegant appointments, the prices quickly rise.
The basics begin at $100,000
Cadillac, Lincoln and Chrysler are American auto makers that offer luxury vehicles with upgraded security measures as well as the latest in technology and comfort and enter the price competition under $100,000. Higher priced manufacturers such as Bentley, Rolls Royce, Mercedes Benz and Hummer also offer quality vehicles with plenty of upgrades for comfort and convenience.
The $Million Club
Prices skyrocket when the owner wants a limousine that is essentially custom built. These high priced cars are considered one of a kind, tailored to the specific needs and tastes of the client so the cost rises significantly.
- Mercedes Benz has created the S-600 Pullman in place of its earlier Maybach line of cars. Released in 2015, this 21 foot long limo is equipped with armor plating that is capable of resisting gunfire and minor explosions and carries a price tag of $1 million for the base model. Even at that, there are plenty of extras such as a powered partition window that can be raised and lowered and turned opaque. With plenty of head room, 3-D surround sound and reclining rear seats upholstered in calf leather there is plenty of luxury for a comfortable ride.
- With a price tag of $1.35 million, the pink Mini Cooper belonging to the daughter of a Kazakh oil king is one of the most expensive personal vehicles in the world. Encrusted with millions of Swarovski crystals, the exterior also boasts an 8 cm crystal in the middle of each hub cap and window film made of pure gold. High tech amenities include a 42” TV screen, numerous TFT monitors, 30 parking sensors and 20 parking cameras.
- Rolls Royce is known for high quality vehicles with price tags to match but the Phantom Limo, worth over $3.5 million is in a class of its own. A 6.8 liter V12 engine that provides 432-hp carries bulletproof armor and a full sized office as well as all the ‘standard’ luxury features associated with Rolls Royce such as natural wood and soft, full-grain leather in the interiors and the latest in sound and flat screen TVs.
- At the top of the high price list is the Rolls Royce Silver Spur limo made especially for the wedding day of the Sultan of Brunei. This one of a kind stretch limo is plated with pure 24 carat gold and is valued at $14 million. That’s just a drop in the bucket considering his entire collection of vehicles is worth roughly $4 billion.
